Chemoembolization of The Liver

A liver chemoembolization procedure is an innovative treatment for primary liver tumors and liver metastases. The chemoembolization procedure can be performed as a primary therapy, or for tumors that have not responded well to chemotherapy. The chemoembolization treatment is done through a small nick in the skin, where the physician enters the femoral artery to gain access to the arterial system. A tiny catheter is placed directly into the arteries feeding the liver tumors, and microscopic beads coated with chemotherapy are delivered directly to the tumors.
