Treatment for Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroid embolization, sometimes called UFE or UAE, is a well-established non-surgical treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids. Symptoms can be due to excessive bleeding, pain, or both. An enlarged uterus from fibroids can also cause pain or discomfort during sex, and can compress the bladder causing frequent urination. In addition, some women may not be able to get pregnant due to fibroids. UFE is effective at treating these symptoms and effects of fibroids. It can be done on an outpatient basis or a single overnight stay, and the recovery is much less than expected following surgery.
