Tampa Oncology Radiologists: Oncology Radiology Treatment for Patients

Our SDI Tampa oncology radiology doctors have a strong interest and expertise in treating oncology patients. Up to 50% of Interventional Radiology training experience is specifically dedicated to consulting, taking care and treating oncology patients. The SDI oncology center is highly experienced in numerous procedures related to oncology, including:

Treatment of liver tumors- radioembolization/SirsSpheres, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), chemoembolization.

Treatment of kidney tumors- radiofrequency ablation (RFA), cryoablation, preoperative embolization and palliative embolization.

Treatment of liver and bone metastases- radioembolization/SirsSpheres, RFA, chemoembolization.

Placement of mediports/venous access. Removal and repair of mediports or catheter fragments.

Comfort and Palliative Therapies: There are many treatments that can be performed to make cancer patients more comfortable, even after chemotherapy is no longer offered. These include specialized drain or tube placements for abdominal fluid (ascites) or lung fluid (pleural effusion) that allow patients to remove fluid at home on their own accord, without having to go to the office or hospital. Pleurodesis is a relatively painless, simple procedure that can help prevent recurrence of pleural effusion by injecting certain medications into the pleural space which stop fluid production. Also, there are procedures that can help relieve pain associated with bone tumors or metastases, such as osteoplasty, verterbroplasty or radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

Visit or call the SDI Tampa oncology center for more information about our cancer procedures.
