Interventional Radiology in Tampa – Cutting Edge Technology
Interventional Radiology, or IR, is the subspecialty of Diagnostic Radiology where we specialize in performing image-guided, minimally invasive non-surgical treatments and procedures. Although IR has been around for more than 30 years, our specialty is emerging as the cutting-edge, innovative, technologically advanced medical specialty of the future. We now can navigate our devices safely to anywhere in the body under the guidance of imaging in order to treat tumors, restore circulation, cure strokes, stop bleeding, alleviate pain, biopsy tissue, or perform any other number of treatments. Procedures and treatments are performed under the guidance of CT, ultrasound, angiography, fluoroscopy, and MRI for safety, effectiveness, and optimum results.
Interventional Radiologists are both clinically trained and formally trained in all aspects of medical imaging and imaging guided procedures, and this training is unique to our specialty. Interventional Radiology physicians train for 10-11 years after college before entering practice. As SDI Interventional Radiologists, we believe we are amongst the most highly trained, experienced and capable physicians performing image-guided procedures.
