What is Teleradiology?

Teleradiology is the transmission of radiological patient images, such as X-rays, CTs, MRIs, from one location to another for the purpose of sharing studies with other radiologists and physicians.

Thanks to high-speed digital technologies, SDI Teleradiologists are connected with other medical centers, offices and diagnostic centers and receive medical imaging studies for prompt radiological interpretations. SDI provides 24 hours a day / 7 day a week Teleradiology services for hospitals and physicians throughout Florida.

How Our Teleradiology Services Began:

In 1992 SDI started establishing a Teleradiology infrastructure to support our group’s in-hospital services at two Tampa hospitals, located seven miles apart. Like many groups in our situation, we used Teleradiology to streamline our night coverage obligations. As our information systems expertise continued to grow, so did our teleradiologist staff. SDI made a commitment to St. Joseph’s Hospital to have radiologists on-site around the clock. This combination gave us the ability to offer night coverage to other Florida-based radiology groups. Our service has grown and we are now a vital part of the late hour emergency team for several Florida hospitals as well as the daytime subspecialty services provider to several MRI centers and physicians' practices.

Teleradiology Services SDI Offers:

SDI offers complete evening, weekend and holiday coverage in all areas of diagnostic imaging including ER, ICU and other inpatient services. This clinical service is provided by a teleradiologist team of fellowship-trained, board certified radiologists and assistants located at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. We also offer our subspecialty expertise to MRI centers and physicians' practices throughout Florida by teleradiology or in the Tampa Bay area by courier.
